When I applied for the job it only consisted of making newsletters, banners, and other intermediate internet related tasks. Barely half a year later we started to work on a new website. After a substantive analysis of the existing features and content, we did a user survey and internal research to find the wishes and requirements for the new website. Responsive and visually able to tell the story and views of the PO-Raad were the most important aims. Another important aim was that the members of the PO-Raad had to be better serviced by the new website. Together with PUURPXL we devised a new look and feel for the PO-Raad website
After the design was finished, we worked with LimoenGroen to build a well-functioning Drupal website. And so within a year, we launched the new website that still gets compliments from both the organization and its users. The number of users has also doubled in recent years to a total of 350.000 a year! As you probably will understand: the website we launched four years ago is no longer the website it is now. For we have built a member portal, an intranet and many other functionalities within it. Visually, I have recently designed and built two landing pages ‘Strategische Agenda’ and ‘Centen van de sector’. New and yet similar the new design gives us the opportunity to take our storytelling to the next level.
Not only on the web have I been able to express my creativity. I also produced a corporate multimedia identity which consists of a leader, lower-thirds, presentation-sheet and closing animation. Some of these elements can also be found in the PowerPoint presentation of the PO-Raad. All because I believe that repetition makes the story and the brand stronger.

Planning tool: Trello
Another nice highlight was the introduction of Trello as a media-planning tool. There was a questionnaire four years ago on which: ‘ Do you have a media-planning tool for your website and other channels’ was being asked. The answer was ‘no ‘. So I started looking and came to Trello. The system which has been used from that moment on. It allows to simply plan our news service and our social media channels.
Google Datastudio, Google analytics reports done well!
Google Analytics is a wonderful program to help you map the users of your website. The only disadvantage is that you have to have some knowledge to use it. There is no management summary, just many details. As a webmaster, I want to know that not only my communication colleagues are aware of how the website performs, but that the whole organisation is. That a policy officer knows and can see how his or her part of the website performs and, together with the communication adviser, can form a sound strategy. Data studio proves to be the solution. Based on data from Google Analytics, everyone in the organization can see the most important information in short set of online pages. And it works! Because not only everyone has access to it, it has also become part of the internal workflow. As a communication team we look at the most important statistics every Monday morning and the communications advisers present the data to the policy officer which is concerned. So the website has been really integrated into what we do as an organisation. And not unimportant too: it saves a lot of time. The reports are based entirely on live data so, for example, an annual report becomes a chore of a few hours instead of A day.

Since I can remember I have been working with images. Whether it’s in photography, graphic design, theatre, lighting design, Internet or video there are always these questions: What does it say? What does it make you feel? What does it make you see?. Those questions became even clearer when I started my own company passioninsight. Being a photographer is something that was always one of the possibilities I had but only after I changed from analog to digital photography was I able to fully commit to it. Not only my eye for detail was in its place in this profession, but also my passion for people and theatre. The experience I have a theatre technician, lighting designer and performer allow me to capture almost instantly the most important moments of shows and performances. Theatre language is one I breathe and speak, and I think that’s something you’ll see in theatre portfolio. In any case, that is what my clients tell me. The ease of working with people also helps me when I work on events or shoot in, and outdoor portraits and more.
Curious? Take a look at the photography page on this website, watch a video of a photo shoot with Vera Paganin or surf passoinsight.nl
2012 – 2013
Drukvergelijker.nl was already launched about six months before my temporary assignment. Unfortunately, the website wasn’t being used by the target group as the owners had hoped for. During my work there I devised a communication strategy with one of the owners of the website. In addition to this communication strategy, I also took on the daily work of updating price data and conducting sales interviews with printing companies.
2011 – 2012
After leaving Kenteq I had several assignments as a designer, a web builder, a theatre technician and a lighting engineer. That period has enabled me to further discover my own talents. To see if the independent entrepreneurship would be something for me I have conducted extensive research into the sale of tablets imported from China. It came close to actually importing until I was told through my contacts that the situation under which these tablets were made left much to be desired. The local contact didn’t even want to burn his fingers on this project, and I also agreed with him. In the end, I got into designing websites and took on more work as a theatre technician an lighting designer.
2010 – 2011
After I was promoted to the Internet Coordinator, I used the research already done for a new website for Kenteq and made a definitive selection for a CMS system. In close cooperation with the entire communication department and Room4ids we designed a new look and feel for Kenteq.nl. At the same time, we also produced a beautiful website with technical job videos.
Engineering in motion
Hiteq is part of Kenteq and they wanted to make a video about educating the youth for it is not yet clear which job they will do once the leave school. The jobs of tomorrow are often not yet invented. In collaboration with Coldsun Productions we made the video below. I was responsible for the whole production including image research and being very closely involved in the final editing.
